OUR STORY

We Are Healers is a 501c3 non-profit initiative featuring stories of Native American health professionals. We aim to inspire Native youth to envision themselves as dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, etc. – all through stories of Native role-models. Through a wide reach and national partnerships, we are able to connect Native students with Native-centric programs proven to provide successful academic enrichment. WAH opens doors and provides opportunity.

WHERE WE BEGAN

We Are Healers was started by Dr. Erik Brodt, MD and his team while he served as the founding Director of the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health Native American Center for Health Professions. The project was initially made possible by the generous support of people and programs throughout the University of Wisconsin system and beyond. Special thanks to the tribes and tribal organizations in Wisconsin and the Great Lakes Region.
